Our Story
Yankee Insurance Agency has been a fixture in Plymouth, Massachusetts since 1978, when John Butts founded the agency with a straightforward belief: local families deserve honest insurance advice from someone who treats them like a neighbor, not a policy number.
Today, that legacy is carried forward by John's children, Michael and Dina Butts, who took over the agency and have grown it into a two-location operation serving both the South Shore and Greater Boston. The name has changed hands within the family — but the values haven't.

John founded Yankee Insurance Agency in Plymouth in 1978 with a belief that has guided the agency ever since: that local people deserve honest advice from someone they can trust. His standard for how to treat clients is the foundation everything we do is built on. We carry his name and his values forward every day.
Co-Owner & Licensed Insurance Agent
Michael grew up watching his father John build Yankee Insurance into a trusted name on the South Shore. He followed that path into the industry and eventually took over the agency alongside his sister Dina. Today Michael is personally involved in every client relationship — when you call the Plymouth office, you're likely talking to Mike directly.
As an independent agent with access to dozens of carriers, Michael takes the time to understand each client's situation before making a recommendation. His approach reflects what John always modeled: find the best fit, explain it clearly, and make sure there are no surprises.

Dina co-owns Yankee Insurance alongside her brother Michael, carrying forward the agency their father John built from the ground up. She brings the same commitment to personal service and honest advice that has defined the agency since 1978, and plays a central role in the day-to-day operations and client relationships that keep the agency running.
Together, Michael and Dina have grown the agency from its Plymouth roots to include a second location in Dorchester — expanding their reach while staying true to the family-first approach that has always set Yankee Insurance apart.
